INTERSOS is an independent non-profit humanitarian organization committed to assist the victims of natural disasters and armed conflicts. Its activities are based on the principles of solidarity, justice,
human dignity, equality of rights and opportunities, and respect for diversity and coexistence, paying special attention to the most vulnerable and unprotected people.
INTERSOS' intervention in Sudan immediately followed the crisis started in Darfur in 2004 focusing on the movements of population between Chad and Darfur and the huge people displacements inside Darfur
itself, addressing concrete efforts to the severe humanitarian emergency. Actually INTERSOS' program is shifting to recovery's policy in an environment that is however still characterized by complex dynamics
and a volatile situation.
INTERSOS, in the framework of its activities in Sudan, is currently selecting candidates for the following position.
JOB TITLE: Project Manager
DUTY STATION: Darfur
DURATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT: 1 year
STARTING DATE: February 2012
ROLE, TASK AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Project manager represent INTERSOS with Project stakeholders and donors, in agreement and on the basis of the Head of Mission's indications. In the project, funded by UNHCR, s/he is responsible for the
implementation of all the activities and the economic and financial management of the project.
Specifically he/she is responsible to:
- Maintain the relationship with the donors and the local authorities/stakeholders
- Participate to the main meeting concerning the project of his/her responsibility
- Follow up the possibility for new project proposal and write it.
- Management of the project assigned to him/her and of all implementation phases, on the basis of the orientation and supervision of the Head of Mission.
- The project manager will coordinates monitoring protection teams, ensuring monitoring missions and information gathering tools on the basis agreed with the donors and partners, and ensures the quality of data collected.
- S/he works with the Country Director in the administrative and project budget under the procedures provided for by UNHCR and INTERSOS.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Proved experience in Project management in multicultural context.
- At least 5 year of experience in post emergency and post recovery programmes in developing Country.
- A good knowledge of descriptive statistics is necessary;
- Ability to work to tight deadlines, with minimal supervision; ability to work under-pressure and to respect deadlines;
- Strong analytical, training, oral and written communication, and team-building skills;
- Good diplomatic and networking skills: the ability to effectively manage a variety of internal and external relationships, including relationships with donors;
- Proven people management and leadership skills: the ability to lead staff and promote productivity in a pleasant work environment;
- Good knowledge of spoken and written English is necessary. Italian will be considered a plus.
- Comfortable with computer use; problem solving and organizational capabilities.
- Good knowledge of the procedure of international donors and management of security, and UNHCR specifically.
